PLACE of BIRTH: in Spring Twp, rural Aurelia, Iowa.

OCCUPATION: He worked as the bookkeeper for Carey-Brown Buick in Cherokee for 14 years. He and Norm Gustafson purchased the dealership in 1966. He moved to Tempe, Ariz., in 1969 and operated a laundry business. He returned to Marcus in 1973 and established Hesse Chevrolet.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; one son, Alan R. of Sioux City; one daughter and her husband, Sharon and Tim Russell of Sioux City; two grandsons; one sister and her husband, Frances and Merlin Hasenwinkel of Aurelia, Iowa.
