LAUREL, Neb. -- Sally Harrington, 73, of Laurel died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Neb.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Laurel, with the Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. today at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel, and will resume 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Harrington was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of William and Edith (Kinleyside) Gant. She attended and graduated from Akron Public Schools and attended Western Union Teletype Operator School in Cleveland, Ohio. She married Douglas Harrington on July 9, 1951, in Akron.
He died in 1978. She was employed as a secretary and receptionist. She came to Laurel as a regional manager for Stanley Home Products. She was then employed as a secretary and receptionist at the Laurel Advocate for more than 40 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Altar Society, and was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed life to the fullest, loved to cook and a good story, was always ready to go dancing, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Larry and Karen A. Harrington of Laurel, and Tim and Karen J. Harrington of Mitchell, S.D.; two daughters, Jan Real, and Lisa and her husband, Fred Hoffman, all of Omaha; six loving grandchildren, Tina Sue, Patrick Adam, MaryAnne Marie, Isaac James, Jason Douglas, and Douglas Carl; two brothers and their wives, William (Bill) and Buelah Gant of Hawarden, Iowa, and Robert and Linda Gant of Sioux City; two sisters, Dorothy Engel of Sioux City, and Rosie and her husband, Ray Janosky of Kewaunee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Paul Gant; and an infant sister, Martha Jane Gant.

Pallbearers will be Fred Hoffman, Keith Clarkson, Gene Twiford, Kim Sudbeck, Rick Brandow and Rich Erwin.
