Adeline “Addie” George, 81, of Remsen died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. The Revs. Thomas J. Hart and Dale George officiated, assisted by Deacon Allan Weiler. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, of Remsen.

Adeline was born May 13, 1919, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Tony and Regina (Roling) Pick. She was raised in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Remsen. She married Dr. Louis A. George on June 2, 1943, at Remsen. The couple made their home in Flint, Mich. She returned to Remsen in 1945, while Louis served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They later made their home in Remsen. Mr. George died May 2, 1984.

Mrs. George was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America and Happy Siesta Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Connie and Frank Willey of Dubuque, Betty and Joe Arens of Remsen, and Marlene and Scott Kass of Spencer; two sons and their wives, Jim and Jacki of LeMars and Gerald and Diane of Northbrook, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jon and Abby Arens, Becka, Brandon and Morgan Kass, and Michael George; two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Harold Wandersheid of LeMars and Edna Mae and Cyril Haupert of Alton; a brother Jim Pick of Merrill; and three sisters-in-law, Marvel Pick and Carol Pick, both of Remsen and Virginia Marklein, of Granville.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dotty George; a granddaughter, Laura George; and three brothers, Milo, Darold and Alfred Pick.
