PLACE of DEATH: at Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars, Iowa
DATE of BIRTH: March 7, 1919
PLACE of BIRTH: in rural Remsen, Iowa
PARENTS: son of Michael W. and Margaret (Goetzinger) Gengler
SPOUSE & DATE of MARRIAGE: Shirley Singer, April 19, 1943
PLACE OF MARRIAGE: Redondo Beach, California
OCCUPATION: He was engaged in farming. H entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 1, 1941, serving during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. After his discharge he returned to the Remsen area where he began farming until March 1957, when they moved to their own farm near Remsen. Mrs. Gengler died June 19, 1957. He married Margaret Bird July 14, 1958, in Dakota City, Nebraska. They farmed near Remsen until retiring and moving into Remsen in April 1985.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; four sons; four daughters; 24 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother; three sisters; three sisters-in-law.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: a son, Douglas in infancy; four brothers; and a sister
PLACE of BURIAL: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa
