OCCUPATION: He served with the United States Navy until 1963. He then moved to Chicago, where he was employed by the Chicago Transit Authority as a subway conductor until 1968. At that time he returned to Iowa and attended Western Iowa Technical College in Sioux City. After marriage, they made their home in Kingsley and he worked for the City of Kingsley until 1976. They then moved to Merrill, where he was employed by the City of Merrill for the past 19 years.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; three sons, Mark Flammang of Marshall, Texas, Aaron, at home, and Keith of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters Susan and Anne Flammang, both of Merrill; a brother, A.J. “Bud” Flammang of Gurnee, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Arlo (Josephine) Van Buskirk, of South Sioux City, Mrs. Ralph (Eldora) Sitzmann and Mrs. Joe (Bernice) Timmins, both of Kingsley, Iowa, and Arlene Grabow of Des Plaines, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Brad Timmins of Pierson, Iowa, and Tim Timmins of Sioux City; three sisters-in-law, Becky Shelker, of Perry, Iowa, Carolyn Kass of LeMars, and Cindi Young of Kingsley; and 39 nieces and nephews.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: his parents; a son, Kenneth; two brothers, Leonard and Donald Flammang; a sister, Leona Preble; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Flammang, and a brother-in-law, Melvin Grabow.
PLACE of BURIAL: Burial in the Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa
