Don Wurth

REMSEN, Iowa -- Don Wurth, 65, of Remsen died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Don was born May 27, 1937, in rural Remsen, the son of Paschal and Mathilda (Ruden) Wurth. He was born with cerebral palsy and was confined to a wheelchair all his life. He had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Jan. 3, 2002.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling about town in his electric wheelchair.

Survivors include three sisters, Shirley and her husband, John Felts of Le Mars, Iowa, Betty Lou Niehus of Sioux City, and Joyce and her husband, Wayne Heidesch of Remsen; eight brothers and their wives, Eugene and Janet, William and Martha, Stephen J. and Doris and Chester and Mary Alice, all of Remsen, Nicholas and Marlene of Moore, Okla., Jerome and Donna of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wayne and Mary Joyce of Yankton, S.D., and Vernon and Barbara of Ainsworth, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Trudy Wurth of Le Mars; and 46 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Milo.

Pallbearers will be Chad, Neal, Kyle, Ron and Bob Wurth and Darrin Arnold.
