Rose Vanderharr, 89, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at her home following a brief illness.
Rose Vanderharr was born June 30, 1918, in Granville, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Tastove) Vanderharr. She attended Catholic School in Granville. The family later moved to a farm near Merrill. Rose lived with her family on the farm until 1971 when she moved to Le Mars. She was then employed with Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars as a housekeeper.
Rose was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed traveling and helping others in need. Rose also loved to visit with friends over coffee. Rose was cared for by her great niece Kathy Kraft for the last five weeks.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Herman Vanderharr of Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews John and Diane Prendergast of Scottsdale, Ariz., Anita and Tim Rush of Omaha, Neb., Bill and Kathy Prendergast of Houston, Texas, Debbie Carranza, Dottie Vanderharr, Frank Vanderharr and David Vanderharr, all of Lincoln, Neb.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and one brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Jim Tigges will officiate. Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.
