Jack Wiltman, longtime Le Mars fireman, dead
Jack Wiltman, 70, Le Mars, longtime Le Mars businessman and member of the Le Mars fire department, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Jan. 5, 1977) at Floyd Valley hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Wiltman was admitted to the hospital Monday evening.
He was born June 25, 1906, at Paullina to John and Emma Myers Wiltman and moved to Le Mars in 1932. He lived on a farm near here for a few years and later operated a repair shop for a number of years.
He was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran church, Pioneer Machinery club and Prairie Village, Madison, S.D.
Mr. Wiltman joined the Le Mars volunteer fire department July 21, 1942 and retired oct. 21, 1971, and is on the honorary retired list. He was an active member of the Iowa State Firemen’s Assn.
His marriage to Amanda Woldt took place Jan. 4, 1926, at Elk Point.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s American Lutheran church with Rev. Arnold Imbrock officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home.
A family prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Amanda; two sons, Wendell (Butch), Le Mars, and Darrell, Shelton, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Mur Lou Miller and Mrs. Cecil (Marlene) Staebell, both of Le Mars; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Emma) Weitzel, Sutherland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a grandson.
