Dorothy Elizabeth Flynn was born on August 24, 1918 in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Madden) Dunne. She grew up and attended schools in Kingsley, Iowa. On February 8, 1937 she was married to Orville Flynn. They lived in Iowa and California for several years and in 1950 moved to Alexandria. In 1956 they moved to the Regal area. She was employed at Fingerhut, Wonderalls, Animal Fair and also was a waitress at Hilltop Restaurant in Paynesville. In 1976 she moved to Belgrade and later moved to Alexandria and for the past four years she has resided at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis.Dorothy enjoyed crafts, crocheting and her family remembers her for her love of cooking, especially making candy for the holidays and working in the garden and taking care of her flowers,
On Monday evening, November 16,1992, Dorothy died at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria (MN). She had attained the age of 74 years, 2 months and 22 days.
She is survived by three sons: Patrick (and Beverly) Flynn of Columbus IN, Roman (and Dzintra) Flynn of Stillwater, and Jeff Flynn of Belgrade; two daughters: Kathleen (and Richard)Stein of Villard, and Susan (and Robert) Maxwell of Osakis and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: William and Philip Dunne, both of Kingsley, Iowa, and one sister, Mary Cook of LeMars, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 11, 1974, her parents, one infant daughter and two brothers, Jack and Donald.
