Milo Manning, 91, of Le Mars, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Milo Ford Manning was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Le Mars, the son of Harry and Mae Manning. Milo was raised in the Le Mars area and attended country school. He worked at the Le Mars Coop for many years. He was a salesman for MoorMan's Feed for 32 years. He later worked until his retirement at the Kingsley Elevator for several years. Milo had also served as the Animal Control officer in Le Mars for 20 years.

Milo was united in marriage to Margaret Jean Dennler on Dec. 9, 1951, in Le Mars.

Milo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League which later became the Le Mars Sportsman Club and Pheasants Forever. Milo enjoyed visiting with many friends in Le Mars, he was still "selling boats and campers" till the end. He has made his home at The Abbey of Le Mars since 2001.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Jean of Le Mars; five sons: Nick and Marlene Manning of Le Mars, Bob and Ginny Manning of Remsen, Milo Dean Manning of Le Mars and his wife Rose of Minnesota, Larry Manning of Fredric, Wis., and Dale and Teresa Manning of Le Mars; a daughter, Donna Mamey of Palm Springs, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Francis Vestal of Waterloo; a brother-in-law, LaVerne Lemke of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

Milo was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Manning in 1989 and a sister Dorothy Lemke.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Martin McDaniels officiating. Inurnment will take place at Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Visitations will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ashley Manning, Scott Manning, Shane Manning, Troy Manning, J.D. Manning, Ethan Manning, Holly Earle-Schultze and Monica Earle. Honorary casket bearers will be his nieces and nephews.
