Darwin A. Majeres, 65, of Sioux City died at his residence.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m Thursday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Robert W. Gralapp, a classmate of his, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Darwin A. Majeres was born Aug. 26, 1938, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Anthony N. and Emma M. (Funk) Majeres. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Gehlen High School in 1956.
He married Marilyn E. Wigton on June 13, 1959, in Sioux City. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Denver, Colo., where he attended college at the University of Denver. While living in the Denver area, he worked various jobs in accounting, he also began taking flying lessons. Later, he was employed with Dow Chemical, where he worked with computers. In 1967, he became a pilot for Eastern airlines and moved to Atlanta, Ga. He was a pilot for more than 23 years, retiring in 1989. He moved back to the Sioux City area in 2003.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing and painting.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Brad and Kris Majeres of Buford, Ga.; a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Jeff Turner of Brooks, Ga.; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Britain, Aleisha and Trent Turner and Andrea and Melanie Majeres; two brothers and their wives, Larry and Elaine Majeres and Jim and Kay Majeres, all of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Darlene Mills of Denver and Carol and her husband, Jim Emery of Richland, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
