Storm Lake Register: Wallace McArthur, druggist here for many years, and one of Storm Lake's most estimable and well known residents, died at his home, 202 Cayuga street, shortly after noon on Monday of this week.

Mr. McArthur had been in ill health for the past several years, but of late was much improved, and his death was learned with deep regret by all who knew him. Wallace McArthur was born at Guelph, Ontario, Canada September 26, 1869 (error--1872), and died in Storm Lake, May 9, 1927, at the age of 57 years, 7 months and 13 days.

His parents were natives of Scotland, and Mr. McArthur was one of a family of 14 children, nine of whom survive him.

At the age of 12 years he came with his parents to LeMars, Iowa. He was educated in the LeMars public schools and the college which has since developed into Western Union.

On July 29th, 1897, Mr. McArthur was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Plumb at LeMars, Iowa, and to this union three children were born. They are: Marshall McArthur, of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. S. S. Faville, of Des Moines; and Jean McArthur at home.

Mr. McArthur was employed in a drug store at LeMars for eight years and then engaged in business for himself at Perry, Iowa. From there the family came to Storm Lake in December, 20 years ago. Shortly after coming here he entered the drug business and the store has since been operated under the firm name of McArthur Drug company.

For the past 15 years Mr. McArthur has been a sufferer with diabetes, and for several years the drug store has been under the efficient management of Henry Schmitz.

Mr. McArthur joined the Presbyterian church at LeMars, Iowa, at the age of 19 years, where his church letter still remains. He was affiliated with the order of the Elks, Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias, at Perry, Iowa. He was also a Mason in good standing. He was a booster for the upbuilding of the community and was active in all things for the good of the community in which he lived.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three children, three grandchildren, Marilyn and Betty McArthur and Richard Faville, and other relatives and a legion of friends.

Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock, and from the Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. O. M. Bond, assisted by the Rev. McGogney, of LeMars, and interment was in the LeMars cemetery. The funeral was largely attended and the floral offerings were beautiful. Members of the Masonic lodge and P. E. O. Sisterhood attended in a body.

The pall bearers were: A. E. Brunson, A. D. Bailie, Conrad Hix, George F. Wagner, G. S. Robinson and Bert Marchant, members of the Masonic lodge.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pierce, of Council Bluffs; Richard Plumb, of Yates center, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall McArthur and family, of Omaha; and Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Faville and son, of Des Moines.
