Donald Page, 89, of Kingsley, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Donald Pershing Page was born May 27, 1918, at Correctionville, the son of Frank and Ethel (Perkins) Page. He graduated from Kingsley High School and held various jobs in the area as a young man. He soon went to work for Page Silo Company, building silos throughout the Midwest for many years.

On June 19, 1938, Don married Marjorie Moritz and the couple made their home in Kingsley. When the company closed he worked for a construction company in Cherokee for a few years prior to his retirement in 1980.

Don was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and had served on the state level as secretary and moderator. In early years Don coached a midget baseball team and played on the town softball team. He also served on the Kingsley School Board.

Don was a referee with the Iowa High School Athletic Association for 52 years and officiated baseball, basketball, football and track meets in the area. He also announced at the local football games. Don was dubbed the "Unofficial Kingsley Golf Pro," having taught countless people how to golf.

In his retirement years he ushered at Iowa State football games as well as mowing and shoveling several yards in Kingsley. Don was a Mason for more than 50 years, belonging to Cosmos Lodge 470 of Kingsley.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marjorie of Kingsley; his children and their spouses Bruce and Terry Page of Jacksonville, Fla., Donald Brian and Jodi Page of Overland Park, Kan., Barbara and Gary Buchholz of Eugene, Ore., Anita and Gary Coffman of Avon, Conn., Marsha and David VanderBroek of Hartley, Frank and LuAnn Page of Owatonna, Minn., Ed and Greta Page of Hewitt, Texas, Lisa and Steven Swenson of Ocheyedan, Jana and Byron Peyton of Grimes and John Page of Glenwood; a son-in-law Roland Huisenga of Ocheyedan; 34 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister Gladys and Harold Johnson of St. Joseph, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Betty Lou; a daughter Brenda Huisenga; and three sisters Wilma, Marge and Helen.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Kingsley. The Rev. Bob Blair and the Rev. Steven Swenson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the Johnson - Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 6 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Saturday.
