GLADYS RUSH

Gladys Rush, 79, a longtime Merrill resident, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City after a brief illness.

Gladys Dixon was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Slayton Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Anthony and Martha (Arrowsmith) Dixon. She married Phillip David Rush in Sioux City on June 28, 1940.

She worked at Archie’s Waeside restaurant in LeMars for 21 years.

She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption Ladies’ Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 125 Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Smith and her husband, Don, of Lincoln, Neb.; three sons, Fred and his wife, Cheryl, of Merrill; Tim and his wife, Anita of Omaha, Neb.; and David of Merrill; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Dixon; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip; a daughter, Phyllis Treybig; a great-grandson, Ranger Janes; six brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill with the Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday. A Scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m., all at the church. The Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars is in charge of arrangements.
