From the Neligh News and Leader, Neligh, (Antelope), Nebraska, February 27, 1946:

James Wilder Dempster

James Wilder Dempster was born at Boone, Iowa, March 14, 1876.

He moved with his parents at the age of four to a farm near LeMars, Iowa. Here he grew to manhood, met and married Eva Vivian Alfred on March 5, 1906 (error--1902).

To this union were born three children: Donald, who died in infancy and Gladys Carpenter of Neligh and Kenneth Dempster, Brunswick.

After their wedding the first four years of their life was spent on a farm in Iowa. Then in 1910 (error--1908) they removed to a farm north of Neligh, where they lived until three weeks ago when they moved to Neligh. Mr. Dempster united with the Congregational church in 1916.

Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church at 2:30 p.m., Feb. 21, with Rev. F. M. Price in charge.

(Note--James was the eldest child of Plymouth county pioneers, John and Phoebe Hodgson Dempster.)
