Charlotte Rodesch, 93, of Remsen, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Charlotte Rodesch was born Nov. 8, 1914, at rural Marcus, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Galles) Alesch. Charlotte was raised in the Marcus area and graduated from Holy Name Catholic High School in Marcus. She taught school in the Cherokee County schools, moved to and was employed in Los Angeles, Calif., and then returned to Iowa.

On Aug. 18, 1942, she married Tony Rodesch of Remsen at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. They made their home near Remsen where they were engaged in farming. Charlotte served as assistant librarian in the Remsen City Library from 1969 until 1990. Tony died Dec. 16, 1973. Charlotte continued to live on the farm until retiring and moving into Remsen in 1982. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta since Feb. 6, 2007.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, church Guild, Christian Mothers Confraternity, Happy Siesta Auxillary and the Remsen Peer Group Area IV on Aging.

Survivors include one daughter, Jan and her husband Robert Tynan of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Steve and his wife Stephanie of Burnsville, Minn., and Tom of Remsen; two grandchildren, Sara Rodesch of Burnsville, Minn., and Brian Rodesch of Greenville, N.C.; one great-grandson, Ryan Rodesch of Burnsville, Minn.; and one sister, Lois and her husband Earl Loutsch of Remsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lorene Clarkson, Sally Ballard, Norma Neubert and Helen Herrig; and two brothers, Larry Alesch in infancy and Lorne Alesch.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating with Msgr. Nicholas J. Ruba concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday). There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by St. Mary Guild and Christian Mothers and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Casketbearers will be Dave, Doug and Larry Alesch, Don Herrig, Bob Loutsch and Ron Schnoes.
