KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Jerry J. Porsch, 67, of Sioux City, formerly of Kingsley, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Duane Miesner officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Tuesday and continue until service time at the church.
Jerry J. Porsch was born on Aug. 29, 1940, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Herman and Lottie (Conner) Porsch. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Jerry graduated from Kingsley High School and moved to Sioux City, to work as a clerk and bookkeeper at the Holiday Inn. He moved to Omaha, Neb., for a brief time working in the hotel industry. Jerry relocated to the Kansas City area and worked in various hotels there for many years.
He returned to Kingsley when his parents became ill. Following their passing, Jerry lived briefly in Moville, Iowa, before settling in Sioux City. He became a resident at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars on Aug. 28 of this year. Jerry had a wonderful personality and was kind to everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his aunts, Anita Ledgerwood of Le Mars, and Evelyn Conner of Kingsley; as well as several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Helen Porsch; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fred Connor.
Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Kingsley and Hospice of Siouxland.
