Wesley W. Heidbrink, 76, of Le Mars, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Wesley W. Heidbrink was born Aug. 3, 1932, on the family farm in Stanton Township, rural Plymouth County, the son of Louis and Marguerite (Kading) Heidbrink. Wesley was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. He attended country school and later attended Le Mars Central High School. Wesley farmed with his father for several years. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea, assigned to a base near the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Following his discharge from the service, Wesley returned to the family farm which he eventually assumed from his father.

Wesley was united in marriage to Janice Thoms on April 4, 1981, at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Wesley continued to farm, feeding cattle and hogs until his retirement in 1996 and later moved to Le Mars in 1999.

For the last eight years of his mother's life, Wesley cared for her. This was very much appreciated by Wesley's family. Wesley enjoyed bowling and going dancing.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Janice of Le Mars; two sisters, Delores Schultz of Rapid City, S.D., and Kay Freking and her husband Harold of Le Mars; a brother, Duane Heidbrink of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marguerite (Kading) Heidbrink; two sisters and a brother in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Dale Schultz.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion post #241 of Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Hodgson, Marvin Loutsch, Mark Hemmingson, Roy Thoms, Bruce Freking, and Brad Freking.
