Blanche H. Majeres, 85, of Le Mars, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at her residence.

Blanche H. Majeres was born Nov. 30, 1921, on a farm southeast of Moville, the daughter of Kenneth and Clara (Struckbein) Baker. She attended country school near her home and later graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1940.

On Sept. 18, 1945, Blanche and Melvin John Majeres were united in marriage at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens. The couple made their home in Le Mars. Blanche worked at various occupations throughout the years including Aalfs Manufacturing, Bomgaars, Zenith, Westmar College and Ben Franklin.

Blanche was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars and belonged to Christian Women. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, flower and vegetable gardening, and playing pinochle at the Senior Center.

She will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Marlene Manning and her husband Nick of Le Mars, and Lavonne Ott and her husband Dave of Le Mars; three sons, Dennis and his wife Deanna of Decatur, Ill., Brian and his wife Pat of Le Mars, and Myron and his wife Margaret of Le Mars; 16 grandchildren: Owen (Elizabeth) Majeres, Ryan (Susan) Majeres, Amy (Tommie) Payne, Michael (Janet) Shultz, Justin (Maria) Shultz, Shawn (Matt) Schiefen, Shane (Jill) Manning, Dawn (Patrick) Hobelheinrich, Troy (Erica) Manning, Amber (Aaron) Busche, Tammy (Rich) Sudtelgte, Justin (Alicia) Ott, Sheila (Shawn) Sypersma, Chris Majeres, Tim (Christine) Majeres, Michelle Majeres; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Gengler and her husband Joe of Remsen; a brother Victor Baker and his wife Mae of Kingsley; a sister-in-law Bernice Baker of Le Mars; brother-in-law Leonard Majeres and his wife Lorna of Remsen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin John Majeres on Sept. 5, 1996; a sister Bonnie (Warner) Meisner; brothers Clarence (Carola) Baker, Roscoe Baker, and Warren (Marvis) Baker; a sister-in-law Rosalind (Art) Luken; brothers-in-law Clarence (Malaine) Majeres, Cecil (Helen) Majeres.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. There will be a Scriptural Prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Kevin Richter of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday with burial to follow at St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens.
