Harold W. Stream, 76, of Le Mars, died suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Harold Willis Stream was born July 23, 1931, at Creston, the son of Willis and Dorothy (Bowen) Stream. Harold received his education at Lenox, Iowa. As a young man, he worked for Vincent and Alvina Nuebel on their farm for a few years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from Feb. 12, 1953 to June 7, 1955 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Harold was united in marriage to Evelyn Anderson on July 22, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars.

Following his discharge from the service, Harold was a truck driver for Maurice Harms and later drove for Phil Groetken for a few years. Harold then went to work for the Iowa Public Service Company for a couple of years. In 1961, Harold began his career as an owner/operator leased to Schuster Grain Company until his retirement in October 2003.

Harold and Evelyn are members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He is also a member of the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars and the Le Mars Eagle's Club.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn of Le Mars; two sons, Randy Stream of Le Mars and Ricky Stream and his wife Susan of Le Mars; four grandchildren: Tiffany Brennan and her husband Leo, Courtney Stream, Katherine Stream, and Ryan Stream, all of Le Mars and four great-grandchildren: Hannah, Michael, and Evan Stream, and Emma Jacobs; two brothers, Lloyd "Bud" Stream and his wife Shirley of Camron, Ill., and Howard "Skip" Stream and his wife Jannie of Harvest, Ala.; a sister, Helen Nelson of Orange City; his mother, Dorothy Stream of Lenox; two sisters-in-law, Vi Headid of Sioux City and Babe Anderson of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Stream; and two brothers-in-law, Andy Anderson and Mahlon Headid.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars, with graveside military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Stream, Leo Brennan, Scott Kommes, Kyle Klein, Steve Schuster, and Chris Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Norma Schuster, Joan Vondrak, LaVonne Kommes, Marlys Harms, Marlene Bouguas, and Dorothy Luschen.
