Mrs. Katharine Spies of Merrill passed away this afternoon at her home after a lingering illness.
Katharine Blecker was born November 24, 1877, at Ponca, Nebraska, and had resided in Merrill for 15 years. The family had farmed near Melbourne for many years before that. She had resided in Plymouth county since the age of 3.
She was married to George F. Spies on March 24, 1899, and he preceded her in death.
Funeral services are pending and Mauer’s in LeMars are in charge. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill. Deceased was a member of the Melbourne E. U. B. church and Rev. Glen Noble is pastor.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Fern Spies, of Merrill, and two sons, Dwight and Leland Spies of Merrill. There is one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
------------------NOTE: Her mother's maiden name was Schneider.
