GEORGE A. KRESS

George Andrew Kress, 84, of Merrill, passed away August 26, 1959, at his home in Merrill. He suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Kress was born April 11, 1875, in Quasquision, Iowa. He lived in Plymouth county since 1901. He farmed in Plymouth county since his marriage to Emma Strohner on December 17, 1901, at Johnson Township Lutheran Church near Merrill. They retired in 1948 and moved to Merrill. His parents were the late George Kress and Katherine Trometer Kress.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 2 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran Church at Merrill with burial in the Hillside Cemetery there under the direction of Luken funeral home in LeMars. Rev. Kenneth Hodum will officiate at the last rites.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Laura Deutschle, Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Kate Lehman of Merrill and a granddaughter and two great grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Joe Erpelding, Wayne Hamilton, Ray Richardson, Otto Kalas, Charles Kluver, and Louis Baack.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services for George A. Kress, 84, who died unexpectedly Wednesday evening after suffering a heart attack in the yard at his home was held Saturday afternoon at St. John American Lutheran Church. Rev. Kenneth Hodum officiated. Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery. Luken’s funeral home in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were---Otto Kalas, Ray Richardson, Joe Erpelding, Charles Kluver, Wayne Hamilton, and Louis Baach. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lieb Deutschle, one son, Howard, both of Merrill; one sister, Mrs. Kate Lehmann of Merrill; one granddaughter; two great grandchildren.
