CARRIER BURIEDFuneral services for Frank Emerson Baker, 69, retired Merrill rural mail carrier, were to be held Thursday afternoon at the Merrill Methodist church.
Mr. Baker died Sunday at his home in Merrill following a stroke. He had been ill about a week.
The Rev. W.E. Smith conducted the final rites, and burial was in the Merrill cemetery. Services were under the direction of Luken’s funeral home of LeMars.
Mr. Baker had served as a rural mail carrier in the Merrill area for 32 years, retiring four years ago.
He was born Aug. 11, 1882, at Sheldon, and moved with his parents to a farm east of Hinton in Liberty township at the age of two. He was the son of Daniel and Rachel Baker.
His marriage to Miss Matie Jensen took place Dec. 26, 1915, at Sioux City. She survives him, as do his children, two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Lois) Sutton, and Mrs. Harry (Wilma) Rath; and three sons, Francis, Douglas, and Robert, all of Merrill.
He also leaves two brothers, James of Tacoma, Wash., and Perry of Culver City, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Linda Burkett and Mrs. Will Lindsey, both of Sioux City, and eight grandchildren.
