MERRILL, Iowa -- Clara Frederika Lang, 94, of Merrill died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill, with the Rev. Dr. Claus Raab officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Lang was born Dec. 4, 1907, on the family farm southwest of Merrill, the daughter of Jens and Emilie (Wettsteadt) Petersen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1927. She married Ainsworth Lang on Feb. 15, 1931, at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple farmed southeast of Merrill for several years. He died May 27, 1990. They loved to go fishing together and watch the birds. She will be remembered for her jokes and stories.

She had made her home at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars since Jan. 23, 2001. While living at Brentwood, she enjoyed participating in activities and helping the staff.

Survivors include two sisters, Emma Hohmann of Le Mars, and Ella Spies of Merrill; a sister-in-law, Hazel Lang of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albert and Herman Petersen; and two sisters, Anna Johansen and Amelia Harrison.
