MRS. WALLACE HEMPHILL
Funeral for Mrs. Wallace (Eileen) Hemphill, 75, longtime LeMars resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, LeMars. Rev. Leonard Root will officiate and burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hemphill died Tuesday (April 10, 1984) at her home.
Eileen Clarice Hauser was born Sept. 16, 1908, in Liberty Township, Plymouth County, to Lewis and Ella Lindsey Hauser. She attended Merrill schools and Western Union College in LeMars. She lived in Merrill and LeMars all of her life.
Her marriage to Wallace Hemphill took place Jan. 19, 1927, at South Sioux City, Neb. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, Federated Woman’s Club and Methodist Church Circle.
Survivors are her husband, Wallace, LeMars; a son, Merlyn Hemphill, Tacoma, Wash, and a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Jeaninne) Downing, LeMars; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
