LORRAINE L. BROWN

REMSEN, Iowa --- Lorraine L. Brown, 79, of Remsen, died Monday, June 19, 2000, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas J. Hart assisted by Deacon Allen Weiler. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 31, 1920, in rural Remsen, the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Kirpes) Raetz. She was raised in Remsen area and attended the rural school and St. Mary’s Catholic School. She married Robert Brown on June 16, 1941, in Remsen. They farmed near Remsen. He died Feb. 1, 1980. She remained on the farm until 1994 when she moved into Marcus. In 1995 she moved into Remsen.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Roberta and Lon Fry of Indianola, Iowa, Mona and Gary Schiltz of Craig, Iowa, and Edna and Frank Wilson of Remsen; a son, Fred and his wife, Sue of Remsen; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and special friend, Erwin Neuenschwander.

She was preceded in death by two sons in infancy and a step granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Aaron and Jason Brown, David Eyer, Christopher Hodson, Robert Schiltz, and Marlowe Wilson.
