Meta Marie Janson, 93, of Poway, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, in California.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Shoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Meta Marie Olson was born May 25, 1912, in Plymouth County, near Hinton, Iowa, the daughter of Hans N. and Rosa (DeiDeker) Olson. She graduated from Hinton High School.

She married Frank Edward Richard Janson on Nov. 24, 1934. He passed away may 15, 1983, in Sioux City. She resided in the same house in Sioux City from 1938 to 2004, at which time she moved to California.

She was a lifetime member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society at the church.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Elaine and Roy Lomax of Elizabethtown, N.C., Marilyn and David Lane of Jackson, Miss., Janice and Paul Uhl of Arvada, Colo., Larry and Barbara Janson of Ramona, Calif., and Keith and Hollace Janson of ShoShoni, Wyo.; 22 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; two infant children, Douglas and Connie Rose; a great-grandchild; a sister, Bernice Olson; and two brothers, George and Melvin Olson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
