HERBERT BOETTGER
LE MARS, Iowa – Herbert E. “Herb” Boettger, 79, of LeMars, died Wednesday, June 14, 1995, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Merrill, with the Rev. Keith Sievers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
Mr. Boettger was born Dec. 11, 1915, in Denison, the son of Roy and Anna (Boehm) Boettger. He grew up in the Denison area and moved as a teenager with his family to the Leeds area in Sioux City. He married Hilda Stephens March 29, 1938, in Sioux City. The couple farmed northwest of Merrill from 1943 to 1977, when they retired to LeMars. During retirement, they spent time at their lake home at Lake Shetek, Minn.
Mr. Boettger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Darrell of Sioux City, Dean and his wife, Sharon of Marshalltown, Duanne and his wife, Rosanne of Sioux City, and David of LeMars; three daughters, Donna Hughes of LeMars, Deanna and her husband Mike Mulder of Alton, and Debra and her husband, Howard Shear of Cherokee; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby and her husband, Gilbert Uhl of Mapleton and Marjorie Smith of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a great granddaughter.
