Dorris Wahl
Dorris F. “Bud” Wahl, 89, 4256 West St., died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, Feb. 16, 1994.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. James Mackey officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Berkemier Funeral Home.
Mr. Wahl was born Dec. 8, 1904, at Kingsley, Iowa, and attended school there, graduating from Kingsley High School in 1922. He was on the Drake University year around track team and graduated in 1926. He then worked for the Davey Tree Company of Kent, Ohio, as a tree surgeon. He married Myrle McKenzie March 22, 1928, at Indianapolis. His employment allowed them to travel throughout the United States for six years. They came to Sioux City in 1932, and farmed near Kingsley for a time. He was with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees during World War II. He worked as a trimming foreman for the Iowa Public Service Company from 1934-1971. Mrs. Wahl died Nov.21, 1981.
He was a member of First Christian Church and American Legion Monahan Post 64. He was an avid bowler and a member of various bowling leagues.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Jennie and Bob Donaghu of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Don and Marianne Wahl of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Charlie S. and Thelma Wahl of Pierson, Iowa; a sister, Mary Woods of Des Moines; four granddaughters, two grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Dorothy Wahl, and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Wesley and Jeff Donaghu, Charles, Roger and Ralph Wahl, and Norman Woods.
