Charlie S. Wahl
PIERSON, Iowa - Charlie S. Wahl, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Pierson, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Pierson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Pals officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pierson. There will be no visitation. Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wahl was born Nov. 3, 1915, on a farm north of Kingsley, the son of Charlie and Jennie (Strohm) Wahl. He moved to Pierson at the age of 12 and graduated from Pierson High School in 1934. He married Thelma Youll March 6, 1936. He lived and farmed on a farm west of Pierson until his retirement. The farm was declared a Century Farm in 1976. He also operated Wahl Plumbing and Heating in the Pierson area.
Mr. Wahl served on the REC Board for 15 years, was a Boy Scout leader, 4-H Club basketball coach and wood carving teacher for 4-H children. He was a member of the Pierson United Methodist Church, Masonic Rutland Lodge 607 AF&AM of Pierson, Sioux City Consistory, Order of Eastern Star Lodge Thonna Chapter of Anthon and Loon Country Carvers of Park Rapids, Minn. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Roger and Margery of Council Bluffs, Ralph and Jean of Davenport and Charles and Paulette of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Jo Ann and Richard Lopez of Rockwall, Texas; six grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor, Erin Ruis, Greg Wahl, Jolene Wahl, Brad Wahl and Catherine Lopez; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
