Larry G. Trometer
HIBBING, Minn. -- Larry G. Trometer, 60, of Hibbing, Minn., and a Le Mars native, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at St. Raphael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth, Minn.

Larry was born Oct. 9, 1945 in Le Mars, the son of Duane and Lucretia (Taylor) Trometer. He was a graduate of Le Mars High School and attended Drake University. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1966. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in September 1970. Following his service years, he attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1975.

Larry was employed with Texas Instruments, Coors Brewery Co. and Martin Marietta (Lockheed Aerospace), where he had his name on the Viking Missile that was sent to Mars. He was also named Engineer of the Year.

He moved to Hibbing, Minn., in 1993 where he owned and operated the Arrowhead Apartments & Motel. He was united in marriage to Stella Knoll in Bovey, Minn., on Aug. 39, 1966.

Larry loved to fish, bowl and research geneaolgy, along with photography, flowers and his garden. He loved animals, especially dogs.
Larry had a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Stella; two stepdaughters, Yovnne Gorman of Centennial, Colo., and Yolanda and her husband, Ken Repp, of Parker, Colo.; a granddaughter, Hanna Gorman of Parker, Colo.; his mother, Lucretia Trometer of Hibbing, Minn.; two sisters, Barbara Stubblefield and her husband, Dave of Denver, Colo., and Janet Mayer and her husband, Bob, of Fremont, Neb.; three nieces; one nephew; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Range Funeral Home in Hibbing, with the Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Inurnment will be in Nashwauk Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
