Fred L. Sweet
Fred L. Sweet, 71, 600 Virginia St., died unexpectedly at his home Friday morning.
Mr. Sweet was born July 8, 1894 at Winterset, Iowa, and farmed there for a number of years before moving to Marshalltown. He married Edna G. Dry Oct. 3, 1935, at Vermillion, S.D., and came to Sioux City in 1944. He was a general repairman for Swift & Co., the Iowa Bakery and Weatherwax Clothing Co., before his retirement six years ago. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Gladys, Ethel, Irma and Dorothy, all in California; two sons, Dwight and Robert, both in Washington State; four brothers, James, Oliver, Otto and Chancy; and four sisters, Rachel, Frances, Phoebe and Grace, all addresses unknown; and 14 grandchildren.
The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home at 711 Myrtle St.
