Dick McInnis, 49, dies unexpectedly
Richard (Dick) McInnis, 49, proprietor of Dick’s Conoco on highway 75 south, died Sunday morning at Sacred Heart hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. McInnis had been at work at the station Saturday, apparently feeling all right. He worked until 10 o’clock that night and suffered the attack at 8 a.m. Sunday at home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church here, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under the direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home. There will be military graveside rites. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. McInnis was born June 22, 1915, at Hurley, S. D. He was married to Florence Vanderwal in LeMars, June 10, 1941.
For the last 25 years he has been in the service station and car repair business in LeMars. After world war 2 he was employed by Bill Asmussen at the station on Central Ave. north.
In 1950 he opened a business of his own known as Dick’s Repair until going to work for Neisius Motors. Five years ago Harry Reynolds and Dick McInnis opened the present Dick’s Conoco. More than a year ago, Mr. McInnis became sole operator of his present business.
He and his family have resided here for 23 years.
Survivors include the widow; a son, Robert, and two daughters, Mary Marcia and Diane, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Mamie McInnis of LeMars, and a sister, Mrs. Clarence Wallin of Sioux Falls, S.D.
His father, William, died in 1945.
