Mrs. Sylvan O. (Bessie Ann) Locer, 80, route 3, LeMars, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Saturday, July 18, at the Akron Hospital after a 1-year illness. She had resided at the hospital the last year.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, at 2 p.m. at the Plymouth Presbyterian church, rural LeMars, with Rev. Charles Kruse officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth Presbyterian church cemetery under direction of Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home.
The former Bessie Ann Robertson, she was born Aug. 22, 1889, in rural Plymouth county, a daughter of the late Duncan and Belle (Ross) Robertson. She married Sylvan Oliver Locer June 21, 1911, at Council Bluffs.
Mrs. Locer, a homemaker, lived on a farm in Washington township except for a period of 12 years when she lived in LeMars. She was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian church and the Ladies United Presbyterian Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in April of 1965, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are a son, Harvey of San Antonio, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Jimenez and Mrs. Dorothy Tone, both of LeMars; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Dennler of LeMars; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
