Carl W. Treptow Retried Farmer Taken By Death
Well Known Early Resident Succumbs to Infirmities of Old Age.
Death Claimed C. W. Treptow, retired farmer and well-known early settler in Plymouth County at his home 834 Central Avenue SE, March 2. Death was ascribed to infirmities of age. He had been in failing health for several months.
Carl William Treptow was born at Poleo, Prussia, Germany, April 10, 1856, and was within a few days of 83 years of age.
Coming to America when a young man he came west to Iowa and lived in Benton county and then in Plymouth county, farming in Henry township for many years. He was a successful farmer and a good manager.
Of late years he lived in LeMars. He was good citizen and neighbor and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a kind and loving husband and father. Mr. Treptow was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Treptow was married twice. He was married in Benton county, Iowa, April 30, 1875, to Miss Elizabeth Link. Several years after her death in 1914, he was married to Jessie Gabel, of LeMars, February 22, 1922.
He is survived by his wife and seven children, who are Mrs. Emma Woodall, Forbes, N. D.; Mrs. Matilda Crabb, Genoa, Colo.; Mrs. Ella Moll, Deer Park Wash.; Mrs. Rosa Parry, Kingsley; Mrs. Florence Messerole, Clark, S. D.; John H. Treptow, Kingsley. A son William and a daughter, Mrs. Martha Pfaffle, preceded him in death. He leaves thirty-four grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren.
Funeral Held Monday
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church, Rev. F. P. Pfaltzgraff, the pastor, officiating, and interment made in the city cemetery.
