LOWELL B. STINTON
AKRON, Iowa --- Lowell B. Stinton, 83, of Akron died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Revs. Allen Bidne and Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, LeMars, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Hoschler Post 186 of Akron. Visitation will be 2 to 89 p.m., with the family present 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Stinton was born Nov. 5, 1915, in rural LeMars, the son of Ray and Hazel (Kenner) Stinton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Delores Vanderham on June 5, 1943, in Junction City, Kan. He farmed in the rural Akron area until retiring in 1979.
He was a member of American Legion and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Richard Martin of Algona, Iowa; a son and his wife, Terry and Jeane of Branson, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Sorgdrager of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle.
Pallbearers will be David and Kevin Foley, Dwight and Dennis Dirks, Mark Russell and Nicholas McKee.
