Rowena M. Weidenfeller

Mrs. Rowena M. Weidenfeller, 74, wife of the late Oscar Weidenfeller, of LeMars, died Sunday at the Floyd Valley hospital after being hospitalized 10 days. She had been in failing health for several months.

Rowena M. Rees was born Sept. 17, 1893, near LeMars. She moved to Salina, Kan., with her family as a young girl and moved back to LeMars when she was about 12 years old.

Her marriage to Mr. Weidenfeller took place June 11, 1911 in Sioux City. Her late husband was a longtime Eagles lodge manager in LeMars.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic church. Rev. L. J. LaVelle will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of Luedtke funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home until service time. Parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Monday.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Alice Lanners, Hot Springs, S. D., and Mrs. Earl Moir, LeMars; a son Oscar (Brick ) Weidenfeller, LeMars; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Rees, LeMars, and Robert Rees, Fort Dodge and four sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Weidauer, Mrs. John Dambrink, Mrs. John Kammerer and Mrs. August Okerstrom, all of Le Mars.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Oscar, and son in infancy and one grandson. Mrs. Weidenfeller was member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
