E. FLORENCE JOHNSONEdith Florence Johnson, 78, Springfield, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday in her home.
She had been a Springfield resident since 1951 and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, the League of Women Voters, American Art Group of SMMA and was a past member of the Green County Medical Auxiliary. She was also active in the Prison Visitation Service and United Nations Support Group. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Warford B. Johnson, Sr., of the home; a son, Dr. Warford B. Johnson II and his wife, Jane Ann, Springfield; a daughter, Karen Lee Vahl, and her husband Ronald, Edmunton, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, Robert Tindall, Sioux City, Iowa, and Richard Tindall, Hemet, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Hunter, LeMars, Iowa, and Mary White, Santa Clara, Calif.; his stepmother, Fern Tindall, LeMars, Iowa; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and Stanley Tindall.
Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Allen A. Denton and James Mercer officiating. Burial will be in Adaville Cemetery, near LeMars, Iowa, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf University Chapel.

Obituary:Edith Florence Johnson, 78, Springfield, Mo., and formerly of
Merrill, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 1990) in her home in Springfield.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Valley cemetery, rural Merrill. Rev. Gordon
Rhodes officiated. Funeral arrangements were under the Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Plymouth county, the
daughter of John D. and Amy (Brown) Tindall. She married Dr.
Warford B. Johnson Sept. 5, 1936, in Chicago. She was a longtime Springfield resident and homemaker.Survivors include her husband; a son, Dr. Warford B. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Jane Ann of Springfield,
Mo.; a daughter, Karen Lee Vahl and her husband, Ronald of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; two brothers,
Robert Tindall of Sioux City and Richard Tindall of Hemet. Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Hunter of Le Mars
and Mary White of Santa Clara, Calif,; her stepmother, Ferne Tindall of Le Mars; four grandsons, Warford
B. Johnson III and Ian Johnson, both of Springfield, Mo., and Christopher Vahl and Corey Vahl, both of
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and Stanley Tindall.
