DOROTHY E. PLUEGER
LE MARS, Iowa -- Dorothy E. Plueger, 80, of Sioux City, formerly of rural Le Mars, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Plymouth Presbyterian Church, rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Randall B. Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, with the family present beginning at noon, at the church. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is handling arrangements.
Dorothy Esther Plueger was born May 28, 1922, in Union Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Edward and Fern Edith (Bullington) Stephenson. She graduated from Union High School. Following her education, Dorothy assisted her family with farming.
On Dec. 21, 1952, Dorothy married Henry C. Plueger at her parents' home in Plymouth County. They continued farming with Dorothy's parents on a farm between Le Mars and Akron. For the past 10 years, Dorothy had lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Sioux City.
Dorothy was a member of First Plymouth Presbyterian Church. When she was able, Dorothy was very active with the youth activities. She had taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school superintendent and assisted with Vacation Bible School. Her hands were always busy with crocheting, sewing, crafts and handiwork. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Stroh, and her grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron, all of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Terry, on April 28, 2000.
