From the LeMars Sentinel, Tuesday, June 25, 1889, Page 3, Column 3:

DIED.

RUBEL--At the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Tegar, in north Elgin township on Thursday, June 20, Jesse Rubel, aged about 88 years. [See CORRRECTION note below this obituary.]

Mr. Rubel came to this county from the eastern part of the state about ten years ago and has been engaged in farming. He has a son, Thomas, who resides in northwest Fredonia township, and since his wife died, seven years ago he has been living with this son and daughter. The funeral was held on Friday at the M. E. church in Seney, conducted by Rev. Marcus Delano.

Corrections submitted by a ggg grandson in 2018: "The LeMars Sentinel obituary was a great find, too, because I didn’t have his date of death. His age in the article is incorrect. It lists him as “about 88 years”. He was born in Ohio on March 6, 1810 so he was 79 when he died."
