HINTON, Iowa -- Phyllis B. Foster, 69, of Hinton died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at her residence after an illness with breast cancer since 1992.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Foster was born July 4, 1936, on a farm east of Homer, Neb., the daughter of Phil and Minnie (Fredricksen) Tobias. She attended country school at the Parker School House in Homer. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1954, where she was on the honor roll and a member of the band. She attended the National Business Training College and worked for the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce.

She married Ernest J. Foster on March 27, 1960, in Sioux City. She started her banking career with the original First National Bank in Sioux City. From 1963 to 1976, she took time off to raise her family. She returned to her banking career and was employed at the current First National Bank in Sioux City.

She did volunteer work for Junior Achievement and the Soup Kitchen. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a member of the P.T.A. and walked for the Relay for Life.

She was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and recently was recognized for teaching Sunday School for 49 years. She also taught confirmation classes.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest of Hinton; three children, Lori and her husband, Bob Daniele of Gainesville, Fla., Jim Foster formerly of Hinton and Janelle formerly of Hinton; her mother, Minnie Tobias of Sioux City; three brothers and their wives, Duane and Shirley Tobias, Phil and Kathy Tobias and Lance and Elaine Tobias, all of Sioux City; four sisters and their husbands, Pat and Bill Biggerstaff and Gail and Kenneth Viers, all of Sioux City, Joy and Mike Corder of Phoenix, Ariz., and Vicky and Bill Wilhelm of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren "Grandma's Little Angels," Mackenzie, Connor and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Phil.

Pallbearers will be Bob Daniele, Jim Foster, Lance, Phil, Jason and Duane Tobias and Drake Clausen.
