Donald A. Ladenberger, 81, of La Jolla, Calif., died Thursday, June 13, 1996 at the Cloisters of La Jolla.

Donald Allen Ladenberger was born July 19, 1913, in North Dakota. He moved from Fargo, N.D., to Le Mars as a young child. He received his education in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. He attended Westmar College for three years and received his law degree from the University of Iowa where he graduated at the top of his class.

He married Thelma Hanno on March 14, 1939, in New Orleans, La. He had worked with University of Iowa professor Roland Perkins. He joined the F.B.I. prior to World War II. After the war, he practiced law with Bob Johnson, ECT. he was past president of the Big 10 Club of Southern California and a member of the Jonathan Club of Southern California. he was also a member of the Train Collectors Association and the Toy Train Operating Society. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma of La Jolla, Calif., and his son Donald J. Ladenberger of San Diego, Calif. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars with the Rev. Dave Cave officiating. The Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa College of Law, Class of 1938 or Westmar University.
