John H. Seel, 94, of Marcus, died Sunday (Sept. 28, 1986) in a Remsen nursing home after a long illness. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus. Rev. Steven Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by F. I. Goodburn Post 517, American Legion. Visitation will be after noon Thursday in the Nelson-Earnest Funeral Home in Marcus.
Mr. Seel was born Sept. 15, 1892, in Henry Township, Plymouth County, to Adam and Marie (Immel) Seel. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He farmed in South Dakota after the service and then returned to the Marcus area where he farmed for many years. He retired in 1959 and moved to Marcus. Mr. Seel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a 66-year member of F. I. Goodburn Post 517 American Legion.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Albert (Grace) Seel of Marcus, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.
