REMSEN, Iowa -- Kathryn "Kitty" Fiedler, 81, of Remsen died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Revs. Thomas J. Hart and John J. McGuirk officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary by the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America at 3 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mrs. Fiedler was born June 5, 1920, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of George and Barbara (Roerig) Kilker. She was raised and educated in the Le Mars area. She married Arnold Fiedler on Oct. 28, 1941, in Le Mars. They made their home near Oyens, Iowa, where they farmed until moving into Remsen in 1956.

She was a homemaker and ran a day care in her home for many years. She was a sexton for the Remsen Community Cemetery for 14 years. Mr. Fiedler died June 20, 1990.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include four sons, Ronald of Oyens, the Rev. Loyd SVD in the Philippine Islands, Leon and his wife, Janet, and Robert and his wife, Karen, all of Remsen; six daughters, LaVonne and her husband, Jim Galles, Kay and her husband, Henry Campbell, all of Le Mars, Karen and her husband, Craig Bartolozzi, Mary and her husband, Patrick Loutsch, Rose Ann Fiedler, all of Remsen, and Marlene Gallardo of Sioux City; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Leonard and Lorraine Kilker of Le Mars, and George and Helen Kilker of Oyens; and a sister, RoseMary Liesner of Remsen.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Stacie Fiedler; a great-grandson, Chase Harnack; two brothers, Donald and Robert Kilker; and five sisters, Elizabeth Meis, Margaretta Wolf, Maxine Rolling, Xaveris Fiedler and Barbara Ellen Kilker.

Pallbearers will be Kari Bartolozzi, Keith Campbell, Chad, Gina, Scott and Steve Fiedler, Brian Gallardo and Mike Galles. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
