LE MARS, Iowa -- Mrs. Dennis (Diane) Dreckman, 58, of Le Mars passed away suddenly Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars from complications associated with muscular dystrophy.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Larry Fett of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Diane Jean Thompson was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Sioux City, to Daniel and Jean (Beck) Thompson. She was raised in Hinton, Iowa, and graduated from Hinton High School in 1964. She continued her education at NBT College in Sioux City and later worked as a legal secretary for several law offices in Sioux City.
On July 10, 1970, she was united in marriage to Dennis Pottorff in Elk Point, S.D. Dennis passed away in a trucking accident in February 1972. She later married Dennis Dreckman in Sergeant Bluff on Oct. 14, 1972.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and Scrabble. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy more than 20 years ago. During her illness, she was always able to keep a positive outlook and remain a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Dennis of Le Mars; two sons, Wesley Pottorff of Le Mars, and Corey Dreckman and his wife, Dana of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Angie and Bill Schilmoeller of Le Mars; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Riley, Kennedy and Maggie Schilmoeller; her mother, Jean Thompson of Le Mars; a brother and his wife, Wade and Betty Thompson of Le Mars; a sister-in-law and her husband, Diann and Ken Kolker of Le Mars; a brother-in-law and his wife, Jerry and Mary Dreckman of Salisbury, Md.; 10 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Thompson; and her husband, Dennis Pottorff.
Pallbearers will be Josh Thompson, Rick Schroeder, Mark Lanning, Brian Ferguson, Scott Mason and Dave Schilmoeller.
