KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Vivian L. Brown, 82, of Kingsley, formerly of Pierson, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Quimby United Methodist Church in Quimby, Iowa, with the Rev. Carolyn Hollar officiating. Burial will be in Quimby Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Vivian was born July 7, 1921, in Viborg, S.D., to Robert and Ida (Larsen) Wagner. She attended Sioux City Public Schools, graduating from Central High School. She then attended National Business Training College in Sioux City.

She married William P. Brown on May 5, 1943, in Monterey, Calif. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Sun Drugs in Los Angeles, Calif., and for Superior Copy Co. in El Paso, Texas, retiring in 1966.

She had been a resident of Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center for the past six years. Prior to this, she had lived in Pierson for four years, El Paso for 18 years, Los Angeles for 17 years, Quimby for two years and Ida Grove, Iowa, for four years.

She was a member of United Methodist Church. She loved to dance when younger, watch sports of all kinds and loved to do crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, William; a son and his wife, Merrill William and Ricki Brown of Spring, Texas; a daughter, Linda Wagenmakers of Agoura Hills, Calif.; two grandsons and their wives, Kyle and Anna Brown and Kevin and Jennifer Brown; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron, Ethan and Austin; a sister, Virginia Erickson of Forest Park, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby and her husband, Ed Gallick of Burbank, Calif., and Mary Dungan of Quimby; a brother-in-law and his wife, Gerald "Mick" and Judy Brown of Quimby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
