IRETON, Iowa -- Constance (Rames-Smith) Boyer, 65, of Ireton, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Ireton, with the Rev. H.H. Schauland officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by visitation with the family, all at Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.

Constance (Rames-Smith) Boyer was born May 21, 1937, in Olivet, S.D., to Clarence and Nanna (Jensen) Rames. She attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, graduating in 1955.

Connie married Jerry Boyer on Dec. 16, 1978, in Sioux Falls and moved to Ireton. She was employed with American Identity in Orange City, Iowa.

She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, collecting antiques, gardening, dancing and spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her parents, Clarence and Nanna Rames of Sioux Falls; her husband, Jerry Boyer of Ireton; two brothers, Donald Rames of Sioux Falls, and Gary Rames and his wife, Jan of Sioux Falls; three sons, Randy Smith of Sioux City, Bryan Smith and his fiancee, Kim Knight of Le Mars, Iowa, and Thad Boyer and his wife, Erica of Sergeant Bluff; two daughters, Pam and her husband, Jerome Cook Sr. of Macy, Neb., and Lea Boyer and her fiance, Shawn Chaussee of Wynot, Neb.; and nine grandchildren, Bill Brink of Sioux City, Adam Knight, Sara Knight and Ryan Knight, all of Le Mars, Lucas Boyer, Gabrielle Boyer and Jase Boyer, all of Sergeant Bluff, Tanner Chaussee of Wynot, and Leah Faulkner of Manteca, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rames.
