OYENS, Iowa -- William A. Loutsch, 65, of Oyens died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens, with the Revs. Richard Remmes and Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Mr. Loutsch was born Aug. 17, 1937, in rural Oyens, the son of Emil and Rose (Hunt) Loutsch. He was raised in the Oyens area and received his education at St. Catherine's Catholic School in Oyens. He then engaged in farming with his father and brother, Raymond, near Oyens. He served in Company K Army National Guard in Le Mars, Iowa, from May 23, 1955, to May 22, 1958.

He married Rosalie Lehman on June 27, 1959, in Northfield, Minn. They made their home near Oyens, where they farmed until retiring on the farm in 1999. Rosalie died Feb. 23, 2002.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Oyens Columbus Club, Plymouth County Zoning Board, 21-year member and president for the last 15 years of Southern Sioux Rural Water, director on the Iowa Rural Water Board, Plymouth County Landfill Board and Farm Bureau. He was a former member of St. Catherine's School Board, Marcus Co-op and past president of the its board of directors, Plymouth County Pork Producers, Plymouth County Extension Council and Plymouth County Farm Service Agency. He received numerous community and agriculture service awards including, Agriculture Achievement Award and Outstanding Service to Agriculture. He was inducted into the Iowa Rural Water Hall of Fame. He was active at restoring and collecting John Deere tractors and devoted his life to his family and farming.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, William J. and Vonnie and their children, Becky, Megan and James, Mark and Lori and their children, Adam, Melissa, Samantha, Jack and Brooke, and Jerry and Tracy and their children, Courtney and Jacob, all of Le Mars, Michael and Renee of Hinton, Iowa, and Matthew and Susan and their daughter, Marissa of Oyens; three daughters, Jeannette Loutsch of Jonesboro, Ark., Maggie Loutsch and her friend, Roberto Martinez-Ochoa, both of Dakota City, and Elizabeth and her husband, Ron Schafer and their children, Abbey and Elsie, all of Mount Ayr, Iowa; three brothers, Raymond and his wife, Joan of Le Mars, Ronald and his wife, Lorna of Westfield, Iowa, and Jerome of Indianola, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy Kilker of Le Mars, and Mary and her husband, Ben Wells of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Wilma Loutsch of Dysart, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Orville and Robert; and a brother-in-law, Robert Kilker.

Pallbearers will be Andy Fiedler, Adam and Roger Loutsch, Eric Mitchell, Don Schmieg and Frank Weber.
