REMSEN, Iowa -- Cleo E. Loutsch, 85, of Remsen died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Remsen. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 3 p.m. by St. Mary's Guild and the Catholic Daughters of America and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Cleo Ludwig was born April 24, 1919, in rural Remsen, the daughter of John and Rose (Bohnenkamp) Ludwig. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School, from which she graduated in 1936.
On Jan. 20, 1941, she married John Loutsch at Remsen. They made their home near Oyens, Iowa, where they were engaged in farming for two years. They moved to a farm in Marion Township near Remsen and farmed there for three years. They bought a farm in Meadow Township near Remsen where they farmed until retiring and moving into Remsen in February 1982. John died Oct. 30, 1995.
Cleo had been a resident of Happy Siesta since Jan. 22, 2001.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the church guild, Catholic Daughters of America, past member of the Blue Army Prayer Group and past Eucharistic Minister for 15 years. She ironed the altar boy surpluses for more than 30 years.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Daniel and Pat of Remsen; a daughter and her husband, Rosanne and Steve Plathe of Remsen; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred and her husband, Lawrence Roling of Remsen, Joan Schroeder of Remsen, and Lola Holbrook of Los Angeles, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, two in infancy, Eleanor Nilles, Evelyn Galles, Rosena Hughes, Callista Doherty, Lucille Price and Rose Mary Kenney; and a brother, Frank Ludwig.
Pallbearers will be Renada and Roman Siciunas, Jill and Matt Loutsch and Chad and Angela Plathe.
