LE MARS, Iowa -- Jeffry Johnson, 59, of Le Mars died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hudson Lutheran Church in Hudson, S.D., with interim pastor Mary Fast officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home in Hudson, S.D.

Jeffry was born Oct. 18, 1945, to Clarence and Bo (Homandberg) Johnson, in Hudson. After graduating from Hudson High School, he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He then lived in Sioux City, where he worked for NAMCO.

He was united in marriage to Suzanne Nielsen on Nov. 23, 1968, in Sutherland, Iowa. In 1970, he attended Western Iowa Tech Community College and graduated with an associates degree in 1972. He then moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked for General Dynamics. He moved to Le Mars in 1998 due to health reasons.

He was a former commander of the American Legion in Fort Worth. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Bo (Colman) Lund of Hudson; a son, Vance Johnson and his fiancee, Laura Nielsen of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Valerie (Curtis) Murdock of Pahrump, Nev.; two granddaughters, Jenna and Sierra Murdock; brothers, Dick (Cindy) Johnson of Colton, S.D., Stuart Johnson and Joseph (Janet) Johnson, all of Hawarden, Iowa; and sisters, Jane (Gary) Sherman of Le Mars, Deloris Ford of Sioux City and Sue Olseth and her special friend, Doug Claus of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Johnson.
